German newspaper der Spiegel reports (translation) that one of germany’s largest mobile operators, T-Mobile, lost data on 17 million subscribers in 2006. The information included mobile phone numbers, names, addresses and birthdates of more than half of their 30 million subscribers.

According to the newspaper the data also included secret phone numbers of several politicians, scientists and others. Although T-Mobile informed the police, customers were not informed of the security breach.
